Conditions for the residence of foreigners in French Polynesia
Case n°1 : you are a national of a country of the European Union, of the European Economic Area, Switzerland, Andorra, San Marino, Monaco or the Holy See (Vatican)
You are allowed to settle in French Polynesia for a period longer than 3 months. In accordance with existing regulations, you however have to register with the town hall of your residence within three months of your arrival.
PLEASE NOTE THAT :
- If you are a member of family of a national of the EU, European Economic Area or Switzerland, you may apply for a residence authorisation with the administration of the High Commission of the French Republic in French Polynesia within three months of your arrival at the latest (or before your short-term visa expires).
Case n°2 : you are a national of another country
In order to settle in French Polynesia, you have to apply for a residence authorisation with the administration of the High Commission of the French Republic in French Polynesia within two months of your arrival at the latest (and before your visa expires).
There are two types of residence permits:
- temporary residence permits valid for 6 to 12 months;
- residence cards valid for10 years, issued to foreigners who can prove they have stayed in French Polynesia for at least 5 years (3 years for parents of French children residing in French Polynesia and for foreigners married to a French national for at least three years);
To support your application, you will have to show:
- The residence permit application form below:
- your passport;
- a photocopy of your passport showing your long-stay visa and your entry stamp;
- 2 passport photos;
- a 9,000 FCP revenue stamp (for temporary residence permits) or 20 000 FCP revenue stamp (for residence cards).
